PostDoctoral Scientist - Social Behaviour of Farm Animals

Salary: £28,085 - £36,122 plus benefits

A vacancy exists for a full time Post-Doctoral Scientist – Social Behaviour of Farm Animals to work in the Centre for Animal Welfare at the Royal Veterinary College, Hatfield. The position is funded by the BBSRC and is on a fixed term contract commencing 1st February, 2008 to 31st July, 2010.

You will have a First Degree in biology, zoology animal or veterinary science. You will undertake research on the social behaviour of farm animals and co-design, set up and execute experiments on social behaviour and social cognition in pigs and poultry to meet the objectives of the BBSRC research project.

You will have, excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to work unsupervised.

The appointment will be made according to qualifications and experience on the Universities’ Grade 6: £25,762 - £33,799 per annum, plus £2,323 London Allowance per annum and eligibility to join the Universities 14% employer contributed Superannuation Scheme.
