ACADEMIC PROFESSIONAL IN MURINE BEHAVIOR

Position:
A full-time (100%) Research Specialist position in behavioral pharmacology is available at UIUC. The primary job responsibilities are to initiate, organize, manage, conduct and summarize experiments that evaluate sickness and depressive-like behaviors in mice. Competence in routine wet laboratory procedures is required. Experience with surgery including implantation of chronic guide cannula for icv injections is highly recommended. The academic professional position is accompanied by the full UIUC benefits package. The initial appointment is for one year, renewable on an annual basis.

Qualifications:
B.S./M.S. required, with additional experience in animal behavior research highly desirable. The ability to work efficiently in a team environment is required. If necessary this position can be adjusted in terms of salary and responsibility to suit a highly motivated scientist with a Ph.D in behavioral neuroscience or behavioral pharmacology who wants to get a post-doctoral position.

Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility will be to conduct live animal experiments that measure sickness and depressive-like behaviors in mice. It is also expected that the successful applicant will have experience in writing and maintaining IACUC animal protocols.

Starting Date:
July 1 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary is commensurate with animal behavior research background and experience.
