Postdoctoral position: neuroethology of hearing in insects.

A postdoctoral position is available in Jerry Pollack's lab at McGill University, Montreal, with starting date of January 2009 and duration of up to two years. We use behavioral, neurophysiological, and computational approaches to study how crickets identify behaviorally relevant acoustic signals. Recent studies have focused on how signal structure and location are represented by the spike trains of identified neurons. A second area of investigation examines the influence of flight capability on auditory sensitivity and on reproductive behavior. More information about our work is available at http://biology.mcgill.ca/faculty/pollack. The ideal candidate will have an interest in the mechanisms underlying behavior and experience with intracellular neurophysiology and/or computational neuroscience. Please send a CV, statement of research interests, and contact information for two referees, to: gerald.pollack@mcgill.ca.
