Postdoctoral research assistant: Social Evolution theory, University of Oxford

Grade 07S Salary: £28,839 to £35,469 per annum

The Postdoctoral Research Assistant will be invited to work under the supervision of Prof Stuart West to study social evolution theory. The post is funded by the European Research Council, and is available for three years, extendable up to five.The main part of the proposal will be to develop models which can explain the evolution and maintenance of cooperative social behaviours in bacteria.The other part of the proposal is to develop models which can explain the evolution and maintenance of cooperative social behaviours in humans and cooperative breeding vertebrates.

Depending upon the applicant, the work could be taken in a number of directions, ranging from issues such as cultural evolution to sex allocation, to the development of general methodology.
