In the Division of Animal Welfare and Ethology, Department of Clinical Veterinary Science, University of Giessen, a PhD position is available starting April 2011 (or as soon as possible) in a project entitled Causation of stereotypies and consequences for neurological integrity, well-being and the validity of animal experiments in a mouse model. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and directed by Prof. Hanno Würbel.
The successful candidate must have a degree in biological (Biology/Zoology) or medical sciences (Veterinary Medicine, Medicine). Expertise in applied ethology, laboratory animal science, experimental design and statistics are a plus.
The position is offered initially for one year, with the possibility of extenting for another 1-2 years. Salary will be according to German public service rules (50% E13 TV-H (Tarifvertrag Hessen) and includes social security benefits (starting at around EUR 18.000 depending on age, family status and work experience)
