ISA Group – Institute of Life Sciences in Lille (north of France) offers a variety of trainings and educational programs (earth and life sciences engineer, bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees and apprenticeship) and research and consulting activities for companies, in the field of life sciences: agriculture, food industry, environment, and landscape management. Located in the heart of Lille Catholic University, the ISA Group welcomes more than 1,100 students from France and the whole world.
ISA Group Lille is recruiting for its agricultural department a lecturer-researcher in animal sciences for a full time permanent position.
Job description
Pedagogy (50%):
Lectures in general animal production, animal nutrition, meat science,
Participation in modules such as « livestock production and territories », « animal health and welfare », and development of new teaching modules,
Tutoring of students during projects, training periods and final thesis,
Take part in transverse teaching activities of the agricultural department such as farm system analysis,
Participate in the different international programs of ISA Group in English and / or outside France.
Research (40%) :
Research will be conducted within the CASE (Comportement Animal et Systèmes d’Elevage – Animal behaviour and livestock systems) research team. The objectives of the team are, based on the study of the animal behaviour and welfare, to provide scientific and (applied) technical arguments in order to find the best compromise between animal performances and livestock housing conditions and management.
The applicant should ideally have competencies in the on-farm animal welfare evaluation, the housing conditions of livestock, or have an eco-pathological approach. The person should have skills in maintaining and developing the national and international research network, in developing new research projects and in project management (finance, administration).
Transverse activities (10%) :
The successful applicant will participate in departments and research meetings, promotion of the ISA Group, its international development. He / she will also contribute to extension and advice to companies and farmers
unions whenever relevant.
Profile
PhD and MSc (or bio-engineer) in animal or veterinary sciences
Experience with teaching and tutoring of students if possible
English and French language
