Description
The School of Biomedical and Biological Sciences at Plymouth University wishes to appoint a dynamic and collegiate individual with expertise in Animal Behaviour to join a multidisciplinary research and teaching team.
You will be expected to support and develop the academic area of animal behaviour, whilst also collaborating with staff in the associated areas of ecology, environmental biology and conservation. You should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: animal behaviour, behavioural ecology, animal cognition, animal welfare. While expertise across a wide range of taxonomic groups is expected, a focus on vertebrate systems in particular is desirable (although not essential). Knowledge of the subject in relation to both wild and captive (companion, zoo, farm and laboratory) animals would also be desirable.
You will be expected to contribute significantly to the research profile of the Biological Sciences Group within the School of Biomedical and Biological Sciences, which currently includes interests in ecology (both theoretical and applied), conservation, animal behaviour, animal welfare, ecotoxicology, microbiology, evolution, and molecular ecology. You will also be expected to engage with teaching and course development on both undergraduate (BSc Animal Behaviour and Welfare, and BSc Conservation Biology) and postgraduate (MSc Zoo Conservation Biology) programmes within the School.
