Human-Animal Interaction
Purdue University
Position
A Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is available in the field of Human-Animal Interaction. The successful applicant will work primarily on statistical analysis and scientific writing for peerreviewed publication from a number of existing datasets. The major focus will be on animalassisted intervention for a range of populations, including autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and typical development. This position represents a unique opportunity for productive publication and innovative scholarly output in a short timeframe. The successful applicant will be housed within the Center for the Human-Animal Bond and the Center for Animal Welfare Science at Purdue University. Both centers represent world-class expertise in related fields, with opportunities for mentorship and collaboration with leading scientists in Human-Animal Interaction and Animal Welfare Science.

Location
The position will be located at the Purdue University campus in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Essential Qualification
Doctoral degree in a field relevant to the project, including but not limited to: psychology, public health, animal behavior, or medicine.

Qualities
The ideal candidate should exhibit excellent writing skills, a demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed outlets, and relevant statistical analysis skills. They should also have a high level of organization, professionalism, reliability, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Experience and Skills
We are seeking excellent candidates with a range of skills. Examples of desirable skills and experiences may include some or all of the following:
 Writing experience
o Peer-reviewed publications
o Conference abstracts and presentations
o Grant writing
 Software experience
o Microsoft Access
o Microsoft Excel VBA
o SPSS or an equivalent statistical software
 Data analysis and interpretation experience
o Survey data
o Behavioral coding data
o Social network interview data
o Psycho-physiological data (e.g. electrodermal activity, cortisol, alpha-amylase, heart rate)

Rank and Salary
Postdoctoral Research Fellow; salary is commensurate with qualifications.

Timeline
The initial fellowship is for a one-year appointment, with the opportunity for renewal contingent upon successful performance in the first year.

Deadline
