Animal Welfare Scientist

As a Federal Research Institute and independent higher Federal Authority under the Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture, the work of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) focusses on the health, nutrition, housing, genetic diversity, and welfare of farm animals.
At the Institute of Animal Welfare and Animal Husbandry in Celle is a position in Animal Welfare Science („wissenschaftliche Rätin / wissenschaftlicher Rat“) available. The employment will be based on the Federal Civil Service Act and its related regulations. The salary will refer to salary bracket A 13 BBesO.
The applicant will be responsible for
 planning and leading research projects on the behaviour and housing of farm animals
 applying for third-party funding
 publication of results in international scientific journals
 joining international and national expert panels
 preparation of scientific reports and statements
The successful candidate is expected to have
 a PhD in Agricultural Science, Biology, or Veterinary Medicine
 experience and knowledge of experimental research in farm animal welfare (preferentially with poultry or pigs)
 proven experience in international collaboration
 experience in grant raising
 a significant number of international publications
 the competence to speak and write in German and English
 the qualification to conduct animal experiments
 pleasure in interdisciplinary team work
